Why Our Products Are Better
We're not trying to be snobby by saying our product is better, but it's true.
When you purchase your heartworm and flea/tick control medications through our office, it comes with a guarantee!
The products sold here have been determined to be safe for your pet and provide effective control of disease. They are stored correctly, in a climate controlled environment, according to the manufacturer's recommendations. They are backed by the company who produces them, a company interested in your pet's health and well-being. In addition, when we fill your prescription for these products, we review your pet's chart to ensure that dosage is safe and appropriate and that necessary testing has been done to ensure safe usage of the product.
We admit that we don't stock every product on the market. Our stock is somewhat limited, so we may place a special order if necessary. At times, and for specific products, we may need to write a prescription for you to purchase your product elsewhere. We encourage you to go to another veterinary clinic for the product where a similar guarantee can be met.
The problem with on-line pharmacies and over-the-counter preventatives is that they do not carry the same guarantee. Merial, Pfizer and Novartis sell only to small, private veterinarians. On-line companies and commercial retail stores somehow obtain products – sometimes through overseas markets or corrupt veterinarians. Products are then shipped and stored in warehouses in conditions that often exceed recommended handling temperature and humidity levels. This can deactivate and compromise the product's efficacy. In addition, the product may come with expiration dates that are short-dated, instructions and packaging information in foreign languages, or alternate safety recommendations.
